A brother recently said, while IAP was being discussed, that we need to pull the people closer to their religion before they go to prison. This is no doubt the goal of the Salafi in da’wah as we seek to aid people in their proper understsnding and implementation of the Dīn of Allāh and by Allah’s permission help them (and us) out of ignorance and oppression to ourselves and others. It is no doubt a fact that we seek to propagate this da’wah to all corners of the globe and success is with Allāh. It is also true that we, in general, take for granted the time we have in this dunya. Our lives are busy and as the years come and go it seems to move much to quickly and soon we are left wondering what we truly gained from that time. For our brothers in prison, there is nothing but time. How many chose to spend that time may also reflect the reasons they are in prison in the first place. But then there are those who realise that prison can be an awakening and a blessing from Allāh. A place where time is mandated and while you have nowhere to go, you can take advantage of how unbusy you are. We see many brothers striving to learn and benefit from their time incarcerated. Some learn Arabic, read and understand texts of Islām from the scholars of Sunnah and exemplify this in their letters and understanding of different issues. But we are not in control of when or how Allāh will guide His servants.
A regular correspondent wrote to us who was recently transferred to another institution.
During the transfer his books were lost. He wrote to us seeking assistance in recuperating his study material, specifically lessons from Kashf ash-Shubuhāt and Sharh as-Sunnah in pdf form from our brothers at Salafi Publications (may Allāh continue to aid and raise them).
We know this brother to be quite studious and often writes quoting from the authentic narrations and statements of the ‘Ulemā. While we hope Allāh continues to increase him and all of the brothers incarcerated with guidance and patience. We can’t overlook the time we have as free persons. Dedicate some time to your Dīn and remember Allāh often. Do not wait until the onset of fitnah or calamity to take advantage of the time you have before it is taken from you. Not all who are negligent in spending their time wisely will understand the opportunities Allāh provides to us every day. So take advantage my brothers and sisters, and remember Allāh much so that He will remember you.
